On Saturday, October 29th from 5-8 p.m. families can gather at the Iron Bridge Trailhead to hear from characters from Midewin's past, present, and future. There will be music, a campfire, treats, drinks, and stories from the prairie's past.
The entrance to the Iron Bridge Trailhead is located on Route 53, south of Elwood. If you were headed North on Route 53 from Wilmington, the entrance to the Iron Bridge Trailhead would be on your right about 1-2 miles before Hoff Road.
Bunkers refer to the concrete structures built at the Joliet arsenal that stored ammunitions and were built to blend in with the surroundings if viewed from the air. Here is a video of some bunkers as captured from the parking lot of the Iron Bridge Trailhead:
