Illiana Corridor Team Adds A3S2 Route as a Preliminarily Recommended Route

According to the Illiana Corridor Planning Team Website, the Planning Team is preliminarily recommending two more corridors in addition to the B3 corridor which passes near Wilmington, Illinois.   The two new corridors were added for further study after many comments by the public after the B3 was recommended as the preferred corridor. The A3S2 route starts at Indiana's I-65 and continues west North of Lowell and South of Lake Dalecarlia.  A3S2 then heads North of Beecher and heads north of the proposed "South Suburban Airport" which is shown the by Illiana Corridor Planning Team.   A3S2 then crosses Route 50 south of Monee, Illinois before heading west paralleling south of Pauling Road before turning NorthWest again after Route 52.  A3S2 then crosses Hoff and Gougar Roads.  A3S2 then heads NorthWest again crossing Elwood-Manhattan Road, Route 53, Brandon Road and passes south of the Joliet CenterPoint Intermodal and north of the Elwood CenterPoint Intermodal and north

Singer challenges airport funding; ALNAC responds

By Mary Baskerville Carriage Stone Communications PEOTONE—Will County Board member Cory Singer questions the validity of the claim by the Abraham Lincoln National Airport Commission regarding secured funding for the creation of the proposed third airport. Singer, speaking Saturday on site of two events—the blessing of land by a coalition of ministers supporting the airport, and at the staging ground for the Shut This Airport Nightmare Down rally and parade—Singer claimed that U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. does not have a guarantee for funding backed by the Canadian government. Singer claimed that the $700 million in funding is not secured by the Canadian government: “Well it’s false—we did a little digging of our own." Tinley Park Mental Health Center Closure Hearing

On April 10, 2012, the State of Illinois Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability held a hearing on the closure of the Tinley Park Mental Health Center.  Administrators from the State of Illinois Division Of Mental Health described to the committee the plan in place to transfer the care of patients to community hospitals and mental health providers. Tinley Park Mental Health Center Closure Hearing Tuesday, April 10, 2012, 3 P.M.

The State of Illinois Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability will hold a public hearing on the proposed closure of the Tinley Park Mental Health Center April 10, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the  South Suburban College Athletic Field House,  15800 South State Street, South Holland, Illinois.  The Commission previously held a hearing on the Tinley Park Mental Health Center's closure in November of 2011.  To read testimony given at that meeting and to hear audio from that meeting, go here .

Hundreds Attend Hearing on Illinois Youth Center-Joliet

Hundred attended a hearing today on the proposed closing of the Illinois Youth Center-Joliet.  More info on state's rational for the proposed closure and public comment here . State Senator Pat McGuire spoke out in favor of keeping IYC-Joliet open at today's hearing:  "Illinois Youth Center Joliet is our state's only maximum security facility for young male offenders," McGuire said.  "As we tighten the belt, we must protect the core services the State of Illinois provides to its residents. Public safety is a paramount core service. The governor's proposal to close IYC Joliet threatens public safety and poses far-reaching dangerous effects." In February, Governor Quinn proposed closing dozens of state service centers, including IYC Joliet.  According to state law, the bipartisan Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability (CoGFA), an organization that represents the Illinois General Assembly, must hold a series of hearings

No Crete Detention Center March and Rally
