Braidwood’s Memorial Day Ceremony begins at 9 a.m., Monday at the Reed Township Veterans Memorial, across the street from the Braidwood City Hall.  Congressman Adam Kinzinger, State Sen. Sue Rezin, Will County Executive Larry Walsh and Mayor Bill Rulien are scheduled to speak. The Reed Custer School’s music department will present  music. The Braidwood Chamber of Commerce will serve refreshments following the ceremony in the City Hall.

A town hall meeting with ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) officials in Crete, Illinois regarding the proposed immigrant detention center in Crete has been postponed due to security concerns raised by the NATO meetings in Chicago. The town hall meeting had been requested by U.S. Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr..  Here is a press release from Jackson's Chief of Staff Rick Bryant which was posted on nocretedetentioncenter.com : "This is an important update for Crete residents. The town hall meeting for the proposed Crete detention has been postponed due to security concerns raised by NATO and outside protesters who are threatening to come to Crete. Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr., after consulting with local and federal law enforcement officials, has agreed to postpone Monday’s scheduled hearing for security reasons. The Congressman remains opposed to a detention center in Crete, and ICE officials remain committed to coming to Crete to listen to residents’ concerns,...

According to the Illiana Corridor Planning Team Website, the Planning Team is preliminarily recommending two more corridors in addition to the B3 corridor which passes near Wilmington, Illinois.   The two new corridors were added for further study after many comments by the public after the B3 was recommended as the preferred corridor. The A3S2 route starts at Indiana's I-65 and continues west North of Lowell and South of Lake Dalecarlia.  A3S2 then heads North of Beecher and heads north of the proposed "South Suburban Airport" which is shown the by Illiana Corridor Planning Team.   A3S2 then crosses Route 50 south of Monee, Illinois before heading west paralleling south of Pauling Road before turning NorthWest again after Route 52.  A3S2 then crosses Hoff and Gougar Roads.  A3S2 then heads NorthWest again crossing Elwood-Manhattan Road, Route 53, Brandon Road and passes south of the Joliet CenterPoint Intermodal and north of the Elwood CenterPoint Intermodal...

Singer, speaking Saturday on site of two events—the blessing of land by a coalition of ministers supporting the airport, and at the staging ground for the Shut This Airport Nightmare Down rally and parade—Singer claimed that U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. does not have a guarantee for funding backed by the Canadian government. Singer claimed that the $700 million in funding is not secured by the Canadian government: “Well it’s false—we did a little digging of our own." On April 10, 2012, the State of Illinois Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability held a hearing on the closure of the Tinley Park Mental Health Center.  Administrators from the State of Illinois Division Of Mental Health described to the committee the plan in place to transfer the care of patients to community hospitals and mental health providers.
