President Obama to Participate in 2010 Memorial Day Ceremony at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois

According to a press release on whitehouse.gov, President Barack Obama will participate in the 2010 Memorial Day ceremony at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.

From the press release:

 "WASHINGTON—On Thursday, May 27, President Barack Obama and his family will travel to Chicago, where they will spend the weekend.  On Monday, the President will participate in a Memorial Day ceremony at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois."

On May 30, 2005, then U.S. Senator Obama participated in the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Day Ceremony, his first visit to the National Cemetery located about an hour south of Chicago.

Local VFW Post Joins Work to Keep Gemini Giant in Wilmington

The Wilmington VFW Post is joining the local effort to keep the Gemini Giant in Wilmington.  The statue is up for online bid at the Grafe Auction website . Wilmington's VFW Post 5422 posted to their Facebook page on March 8, 2024 that: " The Wilmington VFW Post 5422 along with Save the Gemini Giant have teamed up to make an effort to keep the Gemini Giant in Wilmington and relocate it 1 mile west on Route 66 to the VFW.  We need your help.
