Summer Job Program for Students at Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie

Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie is accepting applications for the Summer 2020 Youth Conservation Corps.

"Work with us! STUDENTS aged 15-18: Apply now through Friday, March 6, 2020 to be part of the 2020 Youth Conservation Corps team at Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie! We will plant native Illinois prairie plants, clear brush, maintain trails and more June 8 to July 31, 2020.  Network and learn on weekly off-site explorer days to nearby natural resources sites. Be part of the historic restoration process happening at Midewin!

Hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Students will be paid based on federal / state wage standards. Transportation to and from Midewin is not provided.

Each student must provide a teacher letter of recommendation along with their application.

The Youth Conservation Corps is a nationally recognized program within federal land management agencies. YCC students will have an opportunity to:
• Work and learn alongside federal service employees in a wide range of natural resources and environmental projects;
• Develop a life-long ethic of environmental stewardship and civic responsibility through team-based work projects; and
• Augment and grow your awareness and appreciation of the public lands legacy and of our country’s natural, cultural and historic resources. "
