  Voters in the Lockport Township High School District 205 will see a referendum question on their March 19, 2024 Primary Election ballot. The referendum question will read : "Shall the Board of Education of Lockport Township High School District Number 205, Will County, Illinois, alter, repair, renovate, equip and improve the site of the Lockport Township High School Central Campus, including preserving and protecting the exterior of the building, Veterans Foyer and main gym, replacing and improving HVAC and major mechanical systems, renovating and updating instructional areas and classrooms and improving accessibility to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act and issue bonds of said School District to the amount of $85,000,000 for the purpose of paying the costs thereof?" At an emergency meeting, the Lincoln-Way High School District 210 Board voted to implement remote learning from August 31, 2020 to September 18, 2020.  The District says it has set a target of September 21, 2020 for a return to blended learning. Full release:

The Board of Education of the Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 will meet tonight, August 18, 2020 for an Emergency Meeting to discuss the re-opening of school. The Lincoln-Way High School District 210 Board of Education will hold an emergency meeting on August 18,  2020, at 7:00 P.M., in the Knights' Round Table Hall at the Lincoln-Way Central High School, 1801 East Lincoln Highway, New Lenox, Illinois, to discuss the reopening of school. According to the District's Board Docs website, "Due to COVID, stakeholders may provide public comment in person in an Open Meeting or via email. Please email, lstone@lw210.org with your public comment by 5:00 p.m. the day of the meeting, it will be read aloud at the Board of Education meeting." The only action item on the agenda for the August 18th meeting is the re-opening of School for the upcoming year.

UPDATE, 8/14/20: Lockport Township High School District 205's Draft Return to School Transition Plan includes a report back from district staff's consultation with the district's liability insurance provider. The section labeled "Liability Insurance" on page 17 of the district's Draft Return to School Transition Plan reads:  " Liability Insurance  Consultation with our liability insurance provider, CLIC, has been an important part of the  development of this plan. Coverage for COVD 19 related illnesses or fatalities related to the  possible exposure in the school place is not an insurance product that has been developed  across the United States. Such claims from a school district or from an individual would most  likely be denied as an “exclusion” in our policy; however, it should be emphasized that this is  liability insurance and the following statement from CLIC is important relative to the planning we are doing in this memorandum: “.....

UPDATE: Joliet Township High School District 204 will being the year with ALL REMOTE LEARNING, details here . The Joliet Township High School District 204 Board of Education approved a Memorandum of Agreement with the teacher's union regarding the re-opening plan for school in the 2020-2021 School Year. The re-opening plan will give students and parents the choice between attending school completely remotely with no in-person attendance and a blended model in which students would attend school in-person one day a week and learn virtually the other 4 days. The district has developed a webpage with full details of their reopening plan . The Illinois General Assembly approved the appropriation of $122.5 million dollars from the Build Illinois Bond Fund to the Department of State Police for the purchase and refurbishment of Lincoln-Way North High School into a State Forensic Lab. The appropriation was included on Page 2,216 of House Bill 0064, which is available in full here . The section concerning Lincoln-Way North High School states: House Bill 0064 includes funds for the Illinois State Police to purchase and refurbish Lincoln-Way North High School for the purposes of developing a state forensic lab.

Voting on which school to close and taking action on attendance criteria are on the agenda for the August 13, 2015 Lincoln-Way Board of Education meeting.  The meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Lincoln-Way Central Fine Arts Center. Facing a financial deficit and placement on the State of Illinois financial watch list, the district must submit a deficit reduction plan to the State. At the July 16, 2015 Lincoln-Way School Board Meeting, the Board voted to stop consideration of two proposed deficit-reduction options: a tax referendum and cutting classes or extracurriculars.  The only proposed option remaining is closing a school. Superintendent Tingley presented options for attendance boundaries and school closures.  The Board asked for more information on bus travel times for each of the options.  The Board also discussed the possibility of bringing in an outside consultant to analyze the situation. The Board will discuss which school to consider for closure at the next meeting.
