Silver Cross Replacement Hospital Opens February 26, 2012
The Silver Cross Replacement Hospital at Route 6 and I-355 in New Lenox will open at 7:00 a.m. on February 26, 2012. Here is a video of the New Silver Cross Hospital from Route 6 and I-355 South: The new, 289 bed facility is replacing the current Silver Cross Hospital on Route 6 and Walnut Street in Joliet. The emergency room facility at Joliet’s Silver Cross Hospital will be turned into a 60,000 square foot outpatient mega-clinic for area veterans after the Silver Cross move to the replacement hospital in New Lenox. At an August 2011 announcement of the mega-clinic, Congressman Adam Kinzinger stated : "“Today's news of the mega-clinic for veterans in Joliet's Silver Cross Hospital is truly outstanding,” said Kinzinger. “This new facility will go a long way toward providing access to health care services to veterans in the Joliet and Will County region of Illinois.
