Bloom High School Biodiesel Bus


The Bloom Biodiesel Bus was recently on display at the Will County Earth Day Event at Lockport's Dellwood Park.

The bus runs on biodiesel created by Bloom High School students as part of the Honors Chemistry Curriculum.  The students turn waste vegetable oil into biodiesel, a 5-step process, displayed below:

Kankakee County Board Approves 3700 Acre Solar Farm Near Essex, Illinois

  The Kankakee County Board voted to approve the Heritage Prairie Solar Farm at its November 9, 2022 meeting. The solar farm will be built just south of the Will County Border east of Essex, Illinois.  The solar company has approximately 3700 acres under long-term lease and about 1600 of those acres will have panels and other infrastructure built on them.
