July 3, 2025 Fireworks along Des Plaines River at Bicentennial Park in Joliet

 Joliet's Bicentennial Park will host its annual Independence Day celebration on July 3, 2025.  Festivities kick off at 6:00 p.m. with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. over the Des Plaines River.  Check out the Park's Facebook  page for more info here.

Kankakee County Board Approves 3700 Acre Solar Farm Near Essex, Illinois

  The Kankakee County Board voted to approve the Heritage Prairie Solar Farm at its November 9, 2022 meeting. The solar farm will be built just south of the Will County Border east of Essex, Illinois.  The solar company has approximately 3700 acres under long-term lease and about 1600 of those acres will have panels and other infrastructure built on them.
